Volunteering at the Salem Public Library

Volunteers are always needed and appreciated in various areas of the Library. Volunteers play an important role as partners in the Library's mission and in helping to enrich the customer's enjoyment of the Library. We look forward to having you join us!

Volunteer Opportunities:

Shelving and arranging books and movies
Checking in materials from courier deliveries
Calling library users to notify requested items are available
Assisting Teen Services during programs
Aiding librarians in discarding outdated materials 

 Becoming a Volunteer:

If you are under the age of 18, we have opportunities for you to serve in the Youth Services Department. For Youth Services opportunities Click here.
If you are volunteering for the adult area you must be at least 18 years of age. Please fill out the Salem Public Library Volunteer Application and return the form to the Salem Public Library or mail it to:

If you appear to meet the job requirements, your application will be given to a Staff Supervisor who will contact you to set up an interview.
